leading causes of death in America, touching nearly every family
in some way. More than a million Americans are diagnosed with
cancer every year, yet, thanks to research, people can and do
survive cancer. THIS CLOSE for Cancer Research, Inc. is an all
volunteer nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds to
support the work being done at the Brander Cancer Research

A Message from Julie Brander:
This close was founded in 1990 by three very special
individuals. My husband, Joel Brander, and our friends Dr.
Zalmen Arlin, who established the cancer research institute at
New York Medical College and Joe Tendler, who developed our
logo. Although our founders lost their battles with cancer
all of us at This Close and the Brander Cancer Research
Institute (BCRI) continue in their dedicated fight against the
disease. The past decade as seen tremendous gains in our
understanding of cancer. Research is providing new
approaches to therapy, prolonging life, and curing more and more
cancers. All funds will go directly to the Brander Cancer
research Institute, a pioneer and leader in Cancer
research. Protocols developed at BCRI are being used by
leading medical facilities worldwide.
We are asking you to help us work toward a cancer free
world. We ARE THIS CLOSE and only you can
help us get even closer.
