Where
the money goes...
• Provide critical
laboratory equipment needed to study new drugs and their effects
on specific tumors.
• Establish fellowships for
gifted scientists involved in research identifying new
treatments for all types of cancer.
The Brander Cancer Research Institute focuses on the development
of new drug and treatment programs for all forms of cancer.
Funds provided by THIS CLOSE have been used to provide critical
laboratory equipment needed to study new drugs and their effects
on specific tumors. Funds are used to establish fellowships for
gifted scientists involved in research identifying new
treatments for all types of cancer. Perhaps the most important
use of funds is for start-up of new projects. These experiments
provide preliminary data with which to solicit major funding and
research grants from the National Cancer Institute, The Cancer
Research Foundation of America, the National Institute of Health
and other organizations. In the past year alone, over a dozen
scientific articles have been accepted for publications in
scholarly journals and have been made possible directly or in
part by funds provided by THIS CLOSE.
